Business Certificates

In accordance with MGL Chapter 110, Section 5 as amended, any person conducting business under any title other than the real name of the person conducting the business, shall file a business certificate in the office of the clerk where the business is located.

A business certificate is in reality a name registration statue for businesses conducted under fictitious names (DBA). The fundamental purpose of the registration is to allow customers and others to find the person standing behind the fictitious name.
