Early recognition of CO can only be made by a carbon
monoxide detector.
Carbon Monoxide (CO) detectors are available at
many retail and home improvement outlets in your
neighborhood. These devices are invaluable
and WILL SAVE your life and the lives of those you
love.
It
is strongly recommended that every home have at
least one detector on the first floor in a common
area. It is strongly advised to have a
detector in the basement (if applicable) and one
on the second floor (if applicable).
There is NO LIMIT to the number of detectors you
may put in your home. If you choose to do
so, you may put one in every room.
CO
detectors can be found to be both AC and DC
electrical. AC powered generally use a 9
volt battery while the DC powered plug into a
regular 110 volt outlet. The better units
are DC powered with a battery backup (usually a 9
volt battery).
