Boxing

Jake Brederson
It is with a heavy heart that we pass along the sad news of the passing of our friend Harold "Jake" Brederson. Jake passed on January 26, 2021.  As noted in his obituary "Jake" touched the lives of thousands of youngsters through his longtime service to the Recreation's Boxing Program.  Here is an excerpt from his obituary:  "However, he is best known for training amateur boxers for more than five decades.  In the basement of the Pine Street Armory, now known as the Bartek Recreation Center, Brederson trained boys to become men and took kids off the streets and away from drugs and violence.  For many years he was affiliated with the Attleboro Recreation Department having mentored and trained thousands of kids and adults over the years."

Covid-19 Update: Due to Covid-19, boxing has been suspended. We will post updates here as warranted.
