Commissioner Description

The Attleboro Youth Commission is looking for a diverse group of young people from Attleboro between the ages of 11 and 18 to serve as the official youth voice at City Hall. Each Commissioner must be a resident of the City of Attleboro.

Commission Members

The Youth Commission is comprised of up to 33 Commissioners and up to 3 adult mentors. The Commission members elect officers yearly. Officers consist of a Chairman, Vice-Chairman, Co-Secretaries, and a Treasurer.

The young people representing the 6 council wards are appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Municipal Council. Appointees must be sworn in by the City Clerk at the Attleboro City Hall to become a Commissioner. Then a letter of confirmation is sent to each Commissioner.

Meetings

The Youth Commission suggests attending several of its meetings before joining in order to witness its operation in progress, be aware of its projects being accomplished, and to understand the responsibilities involved with being on the Commission.
